Drone Technology for Private Use

Today on Rob Raskins’ Millionaire Survivalist, we’ll consider the benefits of private investment in drone technology for maintaining control of the surface from inside the comfort and safety of your own home or state-of-the-art survival bunker.

Drone Technology for Private Use

While the Department of Defense continues to push the envelope on this budding future tech, it continues to open doors for the rest of us. While private security firms use drones for remote surveillance, or companies like Amazon use drones for remote package delivery in rural areas, the DOD can use the data for mapping surfaces and targeting enemies for a remote airstrike from satellites. Here’s a list of benefits to using drones:

Drone Uses:

In addition to security, drones are used to great effect in industries such as agriculture, construction, energy, inspection, insurance, mining, and of course, private and public safety. The reason for this is drones are highly customizable. This means they can be modified and outfitted with additional hardware and software that gathers vital information, especially in hard-to-reach areas, either due to location, proximity to danger, or to determine the feasibility of cost-to-benefit.

For example, in agriculture, they can gather information and updates about crop health, livestock, and irrigation efforts more quickly and frequently than conventional aviation. This also goes for energy, such as petroleum pipeline surveillance, of which I have a professional background. The challenges presented include the time and cost of planning a “manned” flight, which is subject to weather delays, landing to refuel, and the limitations of visual inspection, all while dodging other planes, birds, and even drones.

From a survivalist standpoint, we need to think like the DoD by employing best practices that address the long-term challenges to survival and success. Without armies of soldiers at our dispense, we’re often alone in our endeavors to practice superior judgment for ourselves and those for whom we’re responsible. When the SHTF and we’re in lockdown mode, do you really want to risk flight exposure, fuel tanks, and the possible loss of air traffic control?

Of course not. You want to sit in your home office or subterranean command center and use a computer-operated drone to fly to altitudes and distances that detect and transmit 3D aerial data. You’ll know if the coast is clear or if a civil disturbance has created a lockdown of a city or busy traffic corridor. In recent history, think of the loss of police patrolling of Portland, OR, or the LA riots of 1992.

As an added bonus, if you’re able to get your hands on the drone-mounted firepower used by the DoD, you’d not only gather valuable intel, but you’d also be able to neutralize a moving target without the risk of exposure, just as God intended. So, when considering your survival plan for an EOTWAWKI scenario, you’ll be glad you took the time to include drone tech in your arsenal. You’re welcome.

When the Roads Are Dangerous, Fly Instead

Imagine you’re all set up in a compound you bought specifically for the purpose of riding out a disaster. Your walls are high and well-defended by your personal generators powering electric battlements. You have enough food and water for plenty long. What you can’t do, however, is use the roads for anything. They may be broken or unserviceable or just overrun with looters and marauders, but whatever the reason, your travel by land is blocked. In that kind of circumstance, the best way to travel is in the air! This time on Rob Raskins’ Millionaire Survivalist, we’re talking personal luxury flight apparatuses!

Personal Jets Aren’t the Only Way

It’s possibly you already have access to a private jet, or may own one yourself. However, you’re definitely aware of the amount of work and coordination and extra people it takes to operate one. Surely unless you’ve been qualified as a jet pilot yourself, there’s not a great likelihood that you’d be just hopping into your private jet and flying over to your friend’s place. No, while this is a great way to have privatized travel that allows for convenience and safety during a non-apocalypse time, once SHTF time comes around, you will very likely not have access to your team of aviators and private airport staff.

This is why it is important to invest in something that’s a little more personal. A craft that you can operate by yourself or with minimal assistance is the ultimate goal of flight-based disaster preparation. While a personal jetpack might still be a little far off the horizon (though, as it turns out, not that far!), here are some other already-extant options.

Helicopters for Mobility and Status

Chances are that the first thing you thought when you saw the title of this article was a helicopter. That’s a great idea for many reasons! They are versatile, more affordable than a full-on jet, and environmentally-friendly to boot. Not to mention, owning a helicopter grants an instant status symbol to the owner!

Take the Eurocopter EC145, for instance. Coming in just short of a $9M price tag, this helicopter has a ton of great amenities. The spacious cabin can be configured to seat up to nine people comfortably, with air conditioning, XM Satellite radio and a Blu-Ray player included standard. Many helicopters can, over long periods of use, cause vibration-based injuries in their occupants, but the EC145 has a specially-designed vibration-dampening cabin insulation that helps to prevent the nerve-numbing and also muffle the sound of the rotors.

The landing gear on this hefty beast will allow for a landing or takeoff on virtually any surface. Access to the cabin is through a double-clamshell design for passengers and a familiar car-door style for the pilots, so you can have easy in-and-out when you’re on the ground. Especially useful is the short time it takes between standing still and takeoff, so if you need to go somewhere in a hurry, you’ll be out of there in no time.

This model is popular both in the civilian as well as the military markets, and the model has seen use in more than 20 countries because of its ease of use and flexibility in function. Whether you want it as an emergency medical escape vehicle set up to carry injured and sick, or a transport to ferry you and your family in relative luxury, this craft will serve you well.

Ultralights for Distance and Endurance

If you want to go far fast, a helicopter won’t exactly do it for you the way that an ultralight will. Now a far cry from the old crop dusters of the past, the newest in ultralight plane technology will have you making trips in the clouds with no problems. They lack the vertical takeoff of a helicopter, but make up for it well with their ability to travel quietly and for long distances. If you’ve got the space for a landing strip on your property, you could do much worse than picking up an ultralight.

A highly recommended luxury plane comes in the form of the TL-3000 Sirius from TL Ultralight, coming in at an easy $175,000. Their design philosophy centers around comfort and form in tandem with function, so when they say the cockpit is a spacious and comfortable one, they mean it. A surprisingly-large cargo storage area is paired with a pilot seating that accommodates even those who are more well-built than average. Add this to the ergonomic design of the piloting controls, and you will have nothing but easy, comfortable trips in this plane.

An easy 2000 kilometers of flight distance with a full tank of fuel makes this the choice for those who need to be in several places but still remain safe. You can fly at a cool 220 kilometers per hour, high enough that most conventional firearms wouldn’t reach you from the ground. Plus, it’s way quieter than a loud helicopter, so you can get where you’re going while attracting less attention.

With the lowest-end engine clocking 80 horsepower and optimization options going up from there, this is a powerhouse of flight that can guarantee your safe passage from one landing strip to another. Use this vessel for long supply runs, or to travel to places where your friends and family are and bring them back to your safe compound. The freedom and security are yours when you pilot this craft.

Cruise the Skies in Safety and Comfort

It’s pretty plain to see: if your TEOTWAWKI retreat is inland, you’ll want access to the sky. Training for skycraft is readily available, and in as little as four weeks you can be ready to pilot yourself into the clouds and away from the dangers of overland travel. You’ll thank yourself later, when you’re soaring above the unusable roads on the way to your destination.

Get Rid of Your Medical Problems Before SHTF

Let’s be real: there’s a significant chance that you, reading this article, have some kind of minor physical or medical ailment that you have mitigated through the use of some kind of treatment or tool. Many people wear contact lenses to correct their vision, many use electronic hearing aids to assist with hearing loss or deterioration, and a vast number of people suffer from allergies that make certain seasons or exposure to specific items unbearably uncomfortable.

But, can you reliably get contact lenses or hearing aid batteries or antihistamine tablets once things go south? Today on Rob Raskins’ Millionaire Survivalist, we’re going to address how to get rid of your reliance on disposable remedies.

Medical and Cybernetic Enhancements for the Future

Modern medicine and technology have made things like chronic hearing loss something of the past. Every day, doctors and scientists funded by donations from millionaires like us make ailments less and less likely to affect your everyday life. If you’re not taking advantage of the phenomenal permanent fixes that are now available to you, then you are missing out on your own personal protection.

Fix Your Eyes

Everyone these days has heard of Lasik surgery. Essentially, a surgeon makes a tiny and precise cut on your cornea, opening up a passage into the working parts of the eye itself. Then, using a high-powered but very small laser, they will reshape the cornea itself to alleviate imperfections in your eye’s lens. The result is an almost-always permanent improvement to your eyesight, which removes the necessity for external enhancements like contacts or glasses.

Listen, if you have bad eyesight and haven’t been treated with Lasik yet, you are behind the times. You won’t be able to reliably acquire contact lenses or glasses replacements once the SHTF, so if you go into an apocalypse scenario with bad eyes you are at a distinct disadvantage. Go right now and get your eyes fixed immediately. Treatment for each eye averages at a measly $3,000 or so, so for it being as affordable as it is, you should just go and have it done first thing.

There’s a small possibility that the eye will, over a period of several years, continue to readjust itself in the same manner that it originally did to make your original impairment. However, this is not only very rare, but if it DOES happen it takes several years to do so. By the time you need vision correction again, the chances are that society will have returned back to normal and you’ll have your availability back. The bottom line is, you’re wasting your time if your eyes aren’t perfect.

Fix Your Ears

A significant portion of Americans experience some level of hearing loss, and of that portion, many make use of a mechanical hearing aid. These small devices are often inserted into the ear canal externally, and are powered by small button cell batteries. While they tend to work well initially, there are several dangers that they pose. Impingement of the ear canal due to pushing earwax back into it constantly with the insertion of the hearing aid is very common, as is improper calibration of the amplifier damaging the eardrum even more.

We don’t need any of that. That’s something to leave in the past, because dealing with that on top of an EOTWAWKI scenario is unnecessary. No, you can forget the faulty devices because science has the option of cochlear implants and middle-ear implants. The middle-ear implant works well with partial hearing loss, and is a permanent solution to it.

A surgeon will implant a receiver and a working end into your ear, attaching it to either one of the cochlear bones or near the eardrum itself. Then, an external processor attaches to the receiver and processes sound in your environment. Unlike a normal hearing aid, this does not amplify sound at all. Instead, it transmits it to the inner ear and physically moves the ear’s working parts. This produces actually natural-sounding sound, a far better result than standard hearing aids.

These implants cost around $15,000 per ear, and take about 8 weeks to fully implant and activate. Both affordable and safe, this option doesn’t exactly restore your hearing to perfect, but it does improve it without the use of a stick-in hearing aid. If you need it, you can get it done.

Fix Your Sinuses

Allergies are pervasive and difficult to control on the best of days, and this possible solution is the most experimental and expensive of the ones listed here. We’re getting into the real heavy science now. Let’s talk about the possibilities of gene therapy.

In 2017, a study at University of Queensland found that there is a possibility of a single dose of gene therapy could produce a lifetime immunity to allergens. Allergies are basically your body’s immune system reacting to a false positive and trying to expel the offending otherwise-benign substance from the body. When the body reacts to an allergen, histamine responses cause white blood cells to go into full defense mode.

The reason that these responses happen is because immune cells called T-cells recognize the proteins in an allergen and compare them to the “memory” of previous exposures. Here’s where gene therapy comes in. Thanks to the study’s findings, it’s possible to functionally erase the T-cells’ memory of the allergen protein, and therefore make them uninterested in attacking the allergen. The pricetag on this one is a respectable $650,000, but if you can get it, it’s worth never having to deal with potentially lethal allergies again.

The Bottom Line

You can’t assume that you will have access to disposable, single-use supplies in the future. Why not simply fix the problems that you have before they become real trouble? Science exists for the purpose of making your life easier, and in an EOTW scenario, you’ll thank yourself for having the foresight to permanently fix anything that you had going before.

Coronavirus Response for the 1%

Coronavirus Response for the 1%

This is not a test run. You finally have a reason to use your bunker.

It has been estimated that 50% of Silicon Valley’s tech millionaires and billionaires have a shelter. Politicians and A-list celebrities also own lavish TEOTWAWKI properties. With so many potential threats facing society as we know it, it makes sense that those who have the means are investing in their own survival.

Now that COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic and the world has self-quarantined, that investment may be paying off. The recent pandemic may not be a doomsday scenario, but it’s a good reason to put your luxury shelter to use. Many of the world’s wealthiest people are doing just that.

This week at Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist we’re going to take a look at how the ultra-wealthy are handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 and Wealthy Preppers

Over this next month, we can expect many of the world’s wealthiest people will remain sequestered in their private disaster bunkers. Many of these bunkers are abroad, in countries that have not been hit by the virus or have lower rates of infections.

Globally, the rate of death from COVID-19 has now surpassed 6,000. The WHO says this is 3.4% higher than earlier figures predicted. While some countries have been incredibly overwhelmed by the virus, these countries have very low rates of infection:

  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • The Cayman Islands
  • Gibraltar
  • Monaco

Those who are in a position to jet off to an exotic island or a bunker in another secure location have already done so. Some people are taking personal doctors and nurses on their private jets with them so they will have medical staff on-hand should they require treatment.

For those who do not have private jets, millionaire concierge company Quintessentially is arranging emergency evacuation transportation. They offer an elite service that will allow their clients access to exclusive airport lounges and private travel that will lower their risk of having to interact with he public.

Many wealthy people have inquired about private coronavirus testing, but it is not available at this time due to a shortage of test kits. In lieu of testing, some people are opting for pricey vitamin and mineral intravenous infusions. These deliver essential nutrients directly to your bloodstream so you can enjoy optimal health.

What Wealthy People Who Didn’t Prepare Are Buying

While plenty of the world’s richest people have private luxury bunkers, not every wealthy person is ready for a disaster. In the face of the COVID-19 panic, they are stocking up on necessary supplies just like everyone else. It is what they buy that makes them stand apart from the other people who weren’t prepared.

Preppi Bags

We have written about Preppi bug-in bags here at the Millionaire Survivalist in the past. The company’s website states that their Prepster Backpack is “Oprah’s pick,” which hardly instills confidence. At least, it doesn’t for preppers who know better.

Co-founder Ryan Kuhlman has reported that their warehouse shelves are nearly empty. The C-list celebrities and rappers who bought Preppi’s products are about to learn that having a $5K monogrammed bag with gadgets won’t protect you.

Hammacher Schlemmer Anti-Virus Necklace

The Virus Eliminating Rechargeable Personal Air Purifier emits more than two million negative ions per second. These then attach to viruses and move them to positively charged surfaces. In theory, this necklace will move the virus away from your lungs.

On the website it is claimed that Hammacher Schlemmer’s rechargeable air purifying necklace “eliminates airborne germs from one’s personal space.” People who can afford it are rushing to buy this $150 necklace despite the fact that COVID-19 is not an airborne virus.

Hammacher Schlemmer Sanitized Sleeper’s Safe Haven

Hammacher Schlemmer once again comes to the rescue of those who didn’t prepare in advance by offering a $100 anti-virus sleep cocoon. The product is made from a patented antimicrobial fabric that kills nearly 100 percent of viruses, but it doesn’t mention if it’s been specifically tested for COVID-19.

Those who sleep tucked safely inside the Sanitized Sleeper’s Safe Haven can sleep soundly knowing this product will keep them virus-free while they sleep for life. According to the website, this sleep cocoon’s protective properties can’t be washed out.

The problem with a lifetime guarantee, of course, is that it depends on the length of the lifetime. If you depend on an anti-virus sleep cocoon to stay safe, that might not be too long. There is no substitute for preparing for a disaster before it happens. Once it’s started, it may be too late.

Although there is no way to predict what’s coming next, we hope by the next time you visit Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist the COVID-19 crisis will be winding down to its end. In our next installment, we will take a look at the best personal submarines to take aboard your yacht. Until then, stay healthy, stay safe, and stay prepared.

MIGALOO Personal Luxury Superyachts

MIGALOO Personal Luxury Superyachts

After TEOTWAWKI, No Yacht Will Be Complete Without a Submarine

Even if your yacht has every premium amenity in existence onboard, if you can’t go under the water you’re missing out on half the experience. This week, Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist is taking a look at the most high-end submergible superyacht you can buy. If you don’t have a personal luxury submarine, you’ll want one by the end of this article.

Submerge Yourself in Style

In their study, “Aquatic Refuges for Surviving a Global Catastrophe,” researchers Alexey Turchin and Brian Patrick Green argued that submarines are a cost-effective way to ensure the survival of humanity after a catastrophic event. According to these researchers, the benefits of nuclear submarines are many. They include:

  • Being surface independent
  • The ability to withstand nuclear explosions and radiation
  • The space to hold supplies
  • Being isolated from biological weapons
  • The ability to provide food, energy, water, and oxygen

Personal nuclear submarines are not a reality—at least not yet. In the meantime, a personal luxury “superyacht” can offer some of the same benefits. These incredible sea vessels are yachts you can completely submerge, allowing you to enjoy the lifestyle you’re accustomed to under the water for up to four weeks at a time.

After an apocalyptic event, being able to head out on the water will isolate you from much of humanity, increasing your chances of survival. However, being able to go under the water will give you an increased level of protection.

The MIGALOO is the World’s Most Luxurious Superyacht

The MIGALOO may not be able to withstand a nuclear blast, but it is still worth investing in.

It would be difficult to argue with the MIGALOO website’s claim that the vessel is “the future of yachting.” The MIGALOO isn’t a submarine. Instead, it is a luxury yacht that you can take under the water. This “submersible superyacht” offers “extraordinary experiences for extraordinary people” with a price tag that has not been announced yet but is predicted to be $2.3 billion.

This would make the Migaloo the most expensive private object in the world.

The first rough concept of the submersible superyacht was completed in 2013.This project started when Christian Gumpold, CEO and founder, and co-funder and CEO Christopher Gloning came up with the idea of creating a hybrid from a submarine and a superyacht. Gumpold will custom design these superyachts to the purchaser’s specifications, with the owner’s need for privacy, security, and protection in mind.

The MIGALOO was designed with cooperation from international shipyards and yacht owners who understand the unique needs and demands of today’s discriminating superyacht consumers.

After TEOTWAWKI, four weeks is plenty of time to hide out under water, safely from the survivors who didn’t prepare.

What You Can Expect When You Buy a MIGALOO

At this time there are no luxury submersible vehicles in existence, so you could be the first. According to their website, the makers of the MIGALOO are limiting each of their models to just one worldwide. If you see one you’d like, now’s the time to act before someone else beats you to it.

About the MIGALOO M5

The MIGALOO M5 claims to be the most advanced and innovative yacht design worldwide. On board the M5 you will find:

  • Two custom 6-person mini-submarines
  • Two submersibles
  • Two surface tenders
  • 1 helicopter with heli hangar
  • Several Jet skis and toys
  • Several ROVs and UUVs
  • Two diver lockout chambers with hyperbaric chambers

This superyacht is able to travel at speeds of up to 20 knots surfaced and 12 knots when submerged. It can dive to a depth of 300 meters and stay there for as many as three weeks. You’ll have plenty of room for your loved ones, crew, and staff as well, because the M5 holds 32-40 people.

The MIGALOO has an overall length of 165.8 m. For comparison, the blue whale, which is the largest animal on earth, is only 24 to 30 meters long, making this submersible superyacht the approximate length of at least five blue whales. If you’ve ever stood under the blue whale in the Manhattan Natural History Museum, you understand exactly how awesome in size that is.

The MIGALOO’s safety features are also impressive. They include:

  • A data center
  • A safe room
  • A med bay and surgery
  • Panic rooms
  • Anti-piracy equipment
  • Storage for your valuables and documents
  • Private security

You’ll appreciate being able to keep your family, your team, and your belongings safe.

The MIGALOO project is a” sophisticated and fully feasible.” Its designers promise a level of luxury, exclusivity, and privacy that is unknown to even the wealthiest among us.  There’s a whole new world waiting for you below the waterline. It still remains to be seen who will be the first to explore it.

Join us again in the next installment of Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist for a look at more personal submarines you can buy if you want to ride out the apocalypse under water.

Billionaires Are Building Their Own Cities

Why Survive in a Bunker When You Can Buy a City?

When you’re Bill Gates, you don’t need to survive TEOTWAWKI in your own hidden bunker. Apparently the secretive, secure bunker may billionaires are seeking out is not to his tastes. Or he’s bored with his many hidden bunkers and he’s ready to try something new. Enter Belmont—Gates’s futuristic city in the Arizona desert.

Recently Gates purchased 28,000 acres of Arizona land with the plan of creating the city of Belmont. This city would feature the latest technological advances. These include:

  • High-speed networks
  • Autonomous logistics hubs
  • Data centers
  • High-tech manufacturing and distribution
  • Autonomous vehicles

The land sits on 39 square miles west of downtown Phoenix. Gates spent $80 million to acquire the property.

On Belmont’s website, the company says they plan to create public schools, tens of thousands of residential units, and commercial and retail spaces in the futuristic city.

As things currently stand, however, if the grid goes down, what good does it to do have a technologically advanced “smart” city if there’s no power to run it? The majority of the state’s power is generated in three nuclear reactors. If these are damaged or attacked, the people around them will experience a lot more than a power outage—and none of it good.

Phoenix would be an unlikely choice for anyone who is planning to survive a catastrophic event. In his book Bird on Fire, New York University sociologist Andrew Ross described the city as being the “least sustainable in the world,” citing factors like pollution, heat, and drought. However, it is possible to survive and even thrive in the desert if you know what you’re doing and you’ve prepared.

Does Gates know what he’s doing? Is Belmont prepared for the collapse of society, or would it instead become one of the first casualties when the SHTF?

It’s Not Just Billionaires Investing in Rural Land

Bill Gates is not the only billionaire snapping up huge rural U.S. properties. These billionaires have also purchased large parcels of land. Are they also planning to develop their own self-sustained communities?

  • John Malone – 2,200,000 acres in Wyoming and Colorado
  • Ted Turner – 2,000,000 acres in Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico and North Dakota
  • Philip Anschultz – 434,000 acres in Wyoming
  • Jeff Bezos – 400,000 acres in Texas
  • Stan Kroenke – 225,162 acres in Montana

Despite this, billionaires may not be the only people who are planning to create their own cities to live in while they ride out the apocalypse. According to one 2016 post from PrepperGroups.com, a company purchased 120 acres of land adjacent to the US-Mexico border with the intention of creating a self-sustaining prepper community.

According to the post, there was a $50 one-time, non-refundable application fee to be considered for the community. The goal was to bring together a diverse group of people with specialized skills that are needed for survival. This includes doctors, contractors, farmers, military, and more. At the time of the post’s creation, it was claimed they already had military members, nurses, and nurse practitioners on board.

It was claimed there would be 30 one-quarter acre parcels available, each one priced at $1,500. This community hoped to end up with an estimated 60 to 75 families living on the property. Gardens, areas to raise livestock, and other facilities to ensure the community is able to be self-sustaining were planned. The community allegedly already had a well drilled to address the need for a water source, and there is also a 300-gallon water tank on the property.

There are no follow-up posts, so it is unknown whether or not this was a successful endeavor. It may not have been true. The land may have been purchased but the plan fell apart. A third possibility is that there are preppers living on this land right now, and they’re keeping it secret from the rest of the world.

That’s what a smart prepper would do, after all.

Thinking About Buying a Private Island?

Read these pros and cons before you make any commitments.

The benefits of owning a private island after TEOTWAWKI are clear. As long as you have a security team that can defend the island, this is as far away as you can get from those who would try to take your resources for themselves. After a catastrophic event, travel will become difficult no matter who or where you are. Some islands are so remote they take many hours to travel to by boat. Let’s face it, not many people will be able to follow you.

Aside from their obvious security benefits, private islands have long been a status symbol. According to some expert estimates, there are only 2,000 islands that can be developed. The rest are too far from land or connected to countries that are already unstable and chaotic. Richard Branson, David Copperfield, Celine Dion, and Johnny Depp count themselves among the elite island owners, as does Oracle’s CEO Larry Ellison, who dropped $500M to purchase the entire Hawaiian island of Lana’i.

Owning a private island means experiencing breathtaking 360-degree views, the highest possible degree of privacy, and a higher chance of surviving the apocalypse. It also means you’ll need to handle maintenance needs beyond anything you’ve ever previously encountered. Before you make any big decisions during your island search, read Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist’s guide to everything you’ll need to know about private island survivalism.

What to Expect When You Own a Private Island

These are some of the most common questions about owning your own private island.

Can I Start My Own Country?

After TEOTWAWKI, when it comes to the law all bets are off. However, as things stand right now, chances are you will not be able to claim sovereignty. There are virtually no islands that are not claimed by a national government. If you want to be a sovereign nation, your best bet is to look for an island that is controlled by a poor, corrupt government. Their officials may be willing to take your cash regardless of the laws.

Will I Still Have to Pay Taxes?

You will still need to pay the taxes of any country that controls your private island, at least for now. Once the governments have collapsed, that will no longer be an issue. Look into the tax laws of the country before you consider purchasing any private island property.

How Are Islands Financed?

If you want to buy an island, you’ll need to pay cash up-front, because banks won’t grant you a loan. This is due to the fact that it is difficult for banks to establish the value of the island due to the large number of variables that need to be considered and can change at any moment. Because these properties are so scarce, chances are the bank won’t be able to find one near yours to use for comparison.

What to Look for When Choosing an Island

By understanding the features and conditions you should be looking for during your island search, you’ll increase your chances of ending up with the right property for your needs. This checklist is your starting point.

When choosing a private island property, look for…

  • A lightly developed property. If it’s too developed, you won’t have space to realize your own vision for the island. If it’s undeveloped, you may have difficulty getting permits to develop it.
  • A property with a source of fresh water. With a fresh water source on your island, you won’t have to worry about where your water will come from—just making sure it’s purified.
  • An island with access to electricity. This may not matter after the SHTF, as no one else will have power, either. Just keep in mind it won’t be cheap to transport generators to the island. You can also use solar power, but that’s also going to be very expensive and require permits if it’s not already in place.
  • Something that is not too remote. You want to be far away enough that it won’t be easy to discover your island or to invade it, but if it’s too remote you might find it very difficult to get supplies after you’ve run out.
  • An island that is near an airport. If the airport is still operational after the grid goes down, this will be a huge bonus. You’ll also want to make sure you choose an island that is large enough to house a runway if you’re going to go the private airport route.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is if you own an island, you’ll need to be prepared to handle the environment, maintenance, travel, security, and more. Anything can happen, and after the SHTF, it probably will. Visit Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist again next week for a look at private islands around the world that are for sale right now and the biggest drawbacks of private island ownership.

Would You Trust This Man with Your Life?

Would You Trust This Man with Your Life?

A feud between two luxury bunker builders has brought up some disturbing points.

Here at Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist, we recently stumbled across a YouTube video in which one maker of luxury bunkers leveled shocking allegations against another. Did Rising S Bunkers really cause one of their customers to go to prison for three years, or are these baseless accusations that are part of a long-standing feud between owner Clyde Scott and his competitor Atlas Survival Shelters, which is owned by Ron Hubbard.

Claims Against Rising S

According to a video Hubbard posted on Atlas’s YouTube channel, the story began when he received the following letter, which we’ve very slightly edited for clarity:

Ron, my name is Steve Prewit. I own a corporation in Midland, Texas, and I am also a professional drag boat driver. In 2012, I made the mistake of doing business with Clyde Scott of the Rising S company. I lost $250K and received 33 months in federal prison. (My story is) beneficial to your business. If you would like to what I have to say, please give me a call.

Ron then went on to claim the information he learned after he spoke to Prewit was so explosive that he sat on it for a year before finally deciding to go public. He describes this decision as “fighting back against a bully and punching him in the mouth.” He then went on to describe Rising S’s business model as being based on “ruining” their competitors. Hubbard alleges that Scott has personally taken actions that were meant to destroy Atlas Survival Shelters.

Is Clyde Scott a bully? During our investigation into the matter, we compared these two luxury bunker building companies to try to determine the truth behind the scandal.

According to Prewit’s claims, he lost $1.5M and five years of his life after hiring Rising S Bunkers to build a shelter. Prewit alleges Scott set him up to be busted by the feds after seeing Prewit’s cache of illegal weapons, which included guns that were unregistered and had been illegally modified.

In the summer of 2012, Prewit gave Scott $250K to build a bunker. During its construction, Scott observed Prewit firing and selling these weapons. He further claims Scott “rolled on him” to the FBI, falsely claiming to them that Prewit had a 40-man militia that called him “Colonel.” The next time they came out they had an FBI agent among their crew members. Prewit ended up spending 33 months in federal prison.

Prewit said he hired a private investigator who turned up evidence that Clyde Scott is a convicted felon with a lengthy record. He avoids prison time by being a “snitch.” He believes Scott made up a story about him and ratted him out to the FBI because the government is using him to get information. As proof, Prewit and Hubbard showed a printout of Scott’s criminal record.

While this is clearly proof that Scott has committed crimes in the past, it is not clear if Prewit has any clear evidence that he is the informant that led to his arrest.

In an interview with Hubbard, Prewit said he came forward with his story not for his own sake, but rather for the safety of the public, who needs to know that this situation is a possibility.

Which Bunker Builder Can You Trust?

While we can’t make a definitive statement regarding which company—or if either of them—are in the right or whether or not the allegations against Clyde Scott are true, this situation brings up some more troubling issues.

Luxury bunker builders and their teams know where everyone’s bunkers are located. If they’re not trustworthy, who is to say they won’t come to take what you have after TEOTWAWKI? Is it possible that some of them could be underhanded enough that they are secretly building your shelters for their own future use and planning to use your supplies, all while making money off of you for the privilege?

Our investigation unearthed plenty of complaints lodged against Atlas Survival Shelters as well. One consumer claimed to have lost $100,000 after a faulty shelter flooded. When they approached Ron about the problem, they claim he became belligerent. Hubbard, however, had a different take on the situation. He claims these dissatisfied customers improperly installed their own bunker after purchasing it from him.

The truth is, none of the luxury shelter companies have spotless reputations. Someone is always going to be unhappy, and some of these complaints will be legitimate while others will not. Watch out for warning signs like builders who won’t give you an estimate yet are eager to get you to pay a deposit and sign a contract.

In his video, Ron recommends whenever possible purchasing a bunker and hiring your own team to transport and install it for your own personal security. This is clearly the best option at this point, and it’s not surprising he would recommend this now that he believes consumers who are buying shelters are potentially in danger due to unethical business practices.

If you’re thinking about having a bunker built one thing is certain, and that’s the importance of doing your research before you hire any company.

Welcome to Subterra Castle

This is an upscale missile silo shelter like no other.

Shawnee County, Kansas’s Subterra Castle is considered to be the world’s first missile silo home, and you’ll never see another survival shelter like it.

Ed Peden and his wife Dianna originally purchase their decommissioned Atlas E missile base in the early nineties, and they have been living on the property since 1994. At the time, the couple was known to be the only Americans living in a decommissioned silo, though we all know that is no longer the case.

From the moment you approach the castle and see its turrets, you know this is not your average survivalist shelter. Instead, it may just be the most fun place in the world to go after TEOTWAWKI. This week, Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist is taking a closer look at what makes this underground missile silo shelter so special and how you can get one of your own.

The Castle’s Transformation

In an interview with Roadside America, Ed Pedens described removing “hundreds of wheelbarrows of crap,” from the property, along with sheet rock that had actually melted to the floor. Unbelievably, when Ed first toured the silo, he had to do so in a canoe because the underground portion of the property was filled with nine feet of water.

Today, the transformation this missile silo has undergone is simply incredible. The Pedens put decades of work into the property, which sits on 34 secluded acres in an undisclosed location approximately 25 miles outside of Topeka, Kansas. The result is a truly unique property, with features you won’t find in any other shelter like a ceremonial stone circle, a recording studio, and a wood-fired outdoor sauna.

Features

A half-mile paved driveway leads you into the property, which is surrounded by a security fence and has two observation towers. When it comes to self-sustainability, you’ll be covered here. On the grounds, you’ll find a three-room, 450-square-foot cabin. Also on the property are a one-acre stocked pond with a dock and a sand beach, along with an outdoor fire pit.

Some other features of the exterior of the silo include a 1,700-foot air strip, an RV hookup, cistern water storage, a chicken house, and plenty of spaces for gardening.

Regarding the interior of the property, it’s hard to believe there is so much going on under the ground here. There is a 6,500-square-foot, three-level underground home with four bedrooms and three sleeping nooks, a library and study, domestic and commercial kitchens, a diesel generator, and two bathrooms, along with a two-story apartment.

There is also an underground hot tub, a reverse osmosis water system, and a passive solar greenhouse entry. There are also 150 feet of underground entry tunnels. The drive-in “garage” door weighs 47 tons, and it took Pedens 25 years to open it for the first time.

You Can Own an Underground Castle

Today the Pedens help others to make their dreams of owning an Atlas F missile silo home come true. The couple are the owners of 20th Century Castles, a company that specializes in the acquisition and sales of missile bases and other underground structures. Currently, they are offering an underground silo in Central Kansas in the $300K to $499K price range.

This property is 19 acres of breathtaking, rolling landscape. Ten acres of the property are surrounded by a high, secure fence. You’d never know it from the scenery, but under the ground lies a concrete silo that is 52 feet across and 175 feet deep.

What was once the property’s launch control center is now a luxurious 2,600-square-foot living space, with three bedrooms, 2 ¾ bedrooms, a spiral staircase, fireproof construction, vault-like security doors, and a relaxing whirlpool tub. The property also comes with a water well, dual sewage pumps, and a geothermal heat pump that has dual water heaters, and much more.

This property is in need of repairs, but for a buyer with plenty of cash to invest, the end result can be as stunning as the castle.

If you want to take a look inside Subterra Castle, you’re in luck because the generous couple sometimes opens their home for public tours. They ask that you respect their privacy if they aren’t available at a certain time, but you are welcome to contact them at info [@] misslebases.com if you want to schedule an appointment.

You can also contact them for more information regarding the Atlas F site, but there is a $300 viewing fee to tour this in-demand property.

Join us again next week here at Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist, when we’ll take a look at an ongoing feud between two of the most prominent upscale bunker developers.

Vivos: World’s Largest Private Bunker Community

This California Company Offers Group Survival and Much More

Are you looking for a doomsday bunker that doesn’t require any extreme survivalism training? Welcome to Vivos, the survival community of the future. Vivos is offering a unique solution for those who want to survive after the SHTF but don’t feel confident about their chances of making it on their own. That’s why over 50,000 people have applied for a space in this sought-after shelter.

Would being a part of an upscale survival community be the right choice for you? This article contains the information you’ll need to make an informed decision before taking the next step.

About Vivos

The Vivos Group was founded by Robert Vicino, whose network of secret underground bunkers are geared toward the wealthy “everyman” who is seeking shelter after a theoretical apocalyptic event, but isn’t the type who has a bunker and extensive prepping experience. Perhaps they even have no prepping experience at all.

If this describes you, at Rob Raskin’s Millionaire Survivalist we strongly recommend you seek out survival training immediately. However, if this isn’t a possibility with your current schedule, joining a community may be your next best alternative.

The Vicino shelter sits under the earth’s surface just outside of Los Angeles, in Southern California’s Mojave Desert. Vicono intends for his shelters to be “life assurance for a dangerous world.”

Though it’s not possible to assure anyone’s life after TEOTWAWKI—especially not anyone who hasn’t had any training—Vicino claims these shelters can withstand a variety of natural catastrophe and man-made castrophe conditions. These include everything from volcano and nuclear blasts to flooding, earthquakes, extreme winds, chemical and biological attacks, biological attacks, and even armed assaults.

Who is applying to live in the Vivos community? Although tens of thousands have shown interest, what the community is looking for is a mix of skills that will benefit everyone. Doctors, electricians, educators, mechanics, and more are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Find in the Vivos Community

Wondering what you’ll find in Vivos? A better question is what won’t you find? Robert Vicino and his team have thought of every last detail when it comes to what a large group of people will need to survive and thrive in a hidden bunker for a long period of time.

Within Vivos there are:

  • A school
  • A gym
  • A volcanic ash remover
  • A game room
  • A shooting range
  • Radios
  • A pet park
  • Generators
  • Fuel
  • Water
  • Medical and dental suites and supplies
  • Air filters
  • A decontamination room
  • Communal dining and living areas
  • Communal kitchen for half-suites
  • Private kitchens for private full suites
  • Full bathrooms with bidets
  • A system that repels birds
  • A swimming pool

The shelter has been decorated in a way that is meant to calm the people who live within, from the art to the paint colors. On top of this, the facility will contain a year’s supply worth of food for each and every resident. If you run low, it’s no problem, because Vivos also has facilities to grow more food underground.

Vivos’s Failed Terravivos Resort

If all of this sounds too good to be true, it’s because it very well may be. In 2014, the company scrapped plans to create a luxury bunker and resort that could hold 5,000 people.

This project was a response to the predicted “Mayan apocalypse” of 2012, which, obviously, failed to materialize. The shelter would have offered over 2,000-square-feet of living space, with premium amenities that went far beyond anything the California. Vivos community has to offer, including an indoor skate park and golf course.

After investing “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on engineering, the project was abandoned due to its location within an abandoned limestone mine, which was eventually deemed to be unsafe. The project struggled to attract investors and in the end never was able to build the kind of momentum something of that scale would require in order to get off the ground—or, in this case, under it.

Of the failed endeavor, Vicino appears to have chalked the failure up to a simple, “Some ideas work out, and some don’t.” The developer is now putting his energy into new luxury survival communities, including one in Indiana.

The proof that Vivos intends for its current community to survive in the long-term and not just the immediate fallout of a catastrophic event lies in its DNA vault. This company is serious about helping the people who reside in their shelters to live comfortably while they continue the species. Sounds like a worthwhile goal to us.

Whether or not it will work out the way Vivos has planned in a real-life disaster situation remains to be seen.
